Shampoo Brush

I saw a video on youtube about a girl that uses a brush to shampoo her scalp. Sounded interesting so I did a little research. The bushes massages and exfoliates the scalp, which helps promote hair growth and healthy scalp. So I passed my local beauty supply store and peeked in to see if they had any. THEY DID for only 99 cents, CHEAP. So I bought one, it wasn't the one I wanted to buy but it was less that a dollar. Its black and the bristles and pretty thin but not sharp. I rubbed it on my hand and it feel like a nice massage. I didn't use it yet I'll use it in a few minutes.

You must buy a denman

If you are natural, you need a to buy a denman brush. I bought one yesterday and used it a few moments ago and I finally was able to detangle my hair on the top of my head. Which is a miracle. THIS IS A MUST HAVE

New challenge

SO has everyone knows hair grows slower (or it seems like it does) in the winter time
and we can't have that
also I want to try more protective styles but I have a TWA
so I can't even get all the hair into a ponytail sooo
I what can I do
Since its winter time I can where a beanie all the time
So these are my rules
I stole some of the ideas from the 100 day hair challenge but modified it to fit my needs
Thou shalt not comb or brush thy hair more than once a week.
Thou shalt keep thy hair in protective styles at all times.
Thou shalt not use heat on thy hair.
Thou shalt not dye thy hair.
Thou shalt deep condition thy hair regularly.
Thou shalt moisturize everyday.
Thou shalt spray Leave-in on ends once per week.
Thou shalt cover thy hair with a satin scarf every night to keep the moisture locked in.
Thou shalt eat as healthily as possible and drink 8 glasses of water per day.

I'll try to follow those rules
But I will be adding a few things like treatments and other things
I will defiantly be getting a hair cut the first day of the challenge
And I will be doing the baggy method twice a weeks to keep my ends moisturized
I will also try to wash my hair once a month
and co-wash every week

Health Store Hual

I went to the health food store today and bought to extracts

They both contain silica which helps promote hair growth
I'll add this to my water and green tea

It'll begin mid fall and end the begin of spring...so thats around October- February/March
I haven't thought of it in to much detail besides the Beanie
But I'm not going to fuss with my hair

This is an all over soap that can be used on your hair and thats exactly what I did.
I don't wanna talk about it to much but I love the shampoo
my hair felt clean but not stripped and i will be shampooing more frequently
once a week and 2x a week co washes

15th Review: Bentonite Clay Hair Mask

This is know for clumping, loosening curl and cleansing the scalp
it can be used all over but I'll be taking about hair

I used 1/2 a cup of bentonite clay
and 1/4 apper cider but had to add more
and table spoon of olive oil

so i mixed til it look like pancake mix

I got a spray bottle and sprayed my hair with regular water
and applied starting at the back and smoothed my hair down
I let it dry for 30 minutes but it was fully dried
so next I will let it dry fully

I didn't feel the pulsing
it was easy to wash out
I will try this again my curls did seem more defined
and clumped

Yay, I have a staple reg

What I want...

besides growth, is a steady hair regimin. I love to change things up alot and that cost money. I love being a product junkie but its burning a whole in my pocket. I keep hearing about great products and I want to try them all. I am putting a stop to it, starting with this list of prducts I want to try and like and I will put and keep in my hair regmin.

Hair Regmin
Shampoo: Dr. Bronner's Shikakia Peppermint Magic Soap

Co-Wash: Vo5 Vanilla Mint Clarifying Conditioner

Deep Moisturizing Conditioner: Elasta- QP DPR-11

Spray Refresher: Carol's Daughter Tui Leave-In

Styling: Cantu Shea Butter, World of Curls and Carol's Daughter Some of Margaret Magic

This is just the basic stuff needed for a regimen, atleast I think. I own almost all of these products except for Dr. Bronner's. I lost my cantu shea butter, so I need to re-purchase that too.

Goals

I need to set some goals for this challenge. And here they are

Apply megatek 3x a week
Reach CL (collarbone length- 2-3 inches) by Sept 24
Drink lots of water and green tea
Slow down on my product junkie-ism
Gain Shine

I will check back on this on September 24

My Wish List

I have a new wish list. I know I haven't obtained everything on my other wishlist but some of those items were kind of expensive for me. Also I'm trying to cut back on my product junkie-ism.

1. Elasta-QP DPR-11 deep conditioner: This conditioner is only for moisture, it contains no proteins or anything that acts as a protein. So this will be great for my mega tek challenge. This can be found at any local beauty supply store

2. Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Shikakai Magic Soap: This is a body soap but great for all over. This is organic and does not contain any harsh detergents. I heard so many people rave about this product, so I'll try it. (Can be found at Whole foods)

3. Bentonite Clay: I heard this stuff loosens, detangles and defines your curls. I want to try this also it detox your scalp and can be used as a mask. (Can be found at whole foods)

4. Carol's Daughter's Hair Milk: I am not the biggest fan of carol's daughter. I fond there products to be a little heavy but Hair Milk is suppose to be amazing. I'll be the judge of that. (Macy's and Carol's Daughter store)

5. IC Fanastia Gel (green label ) So many people use this stuff to enhance there curls and I don't want to be left out. But I'm keeping this on my maybe list (Found at any local beauty supply store)

Hollywood Beauty: Castor Oil

This stuff is a no no, when glazing over the ingredient at the store I did not notice that this stuff contained mineral oil. I freaked out because I used half a bottle. hopefully nothing bad will happen and I threw this stuff away.
So I checked my Tea Tree Oil and no mineral oil or anything bad.

Program begins today!

Today July 25 the hair skin and nails program begins.
I have everything need to begin except I used the regular GNC's hair skin and nails instead of the program they have.

New method I tried

I only tired this method on a section of my hair and it worked amazing. I love me hair but the only problem I have with my hair is it doesn't go down and I want more defined curls. So I'm thought of a new method of washing my hair on that section, it worked so much.
Let me explain my method, First:
Do I light co-wash ( VO5 tea therapy)
Detangle
Then With thicker (cheap) conditioner slick down my hair (Aussi Moist)

I slick my hair all down with the conditioner
this makes my hair goes down
then wash and try to to pick it out on move it
keep it all down
Then I apply my leave in and style gel all in a downward motion

My hair will coil up and clump up and still go down
I love the way the section came out
I will try this officially tomorrow

Braid Out

Well I'm a newly Bc'ed and I'm desperate for length
if you didn't know already
So my new plan is to do braids because it'll be a little easier to see length

Why I love Co-washes

1. They are cheap
2. I could co wash everyday without stripping my hair
3. Shampoos suck
4. My hair doesn't get dried so quick
5. My hair is more moisturized

Baking Soda Treatment

I tried the infamous Baking soda treatment and I forgot to tell you guys bout it. Shame on me! NOW let me tell you about it. People claim that this treatment textures your hair and gives you SUPER moisture.

Let me get all SCIENCE now. When you add the conditioner to the baking soda, the baking soda soaks up all the moisture from the conditioner (but not from your hair) If you didn't know baking soda is a base. A base OPENS your hair follicles. While the follicles are open the moisture will put it deep into your hair shaft.

Ingerients
1/2 cup of baking soda
1 cup of aussi moist conditioner
Golf ball size of organics olive oil

Mix all together
Apply to scalp
Put a shower cap on and a towel

I left it on your and hour

The baking soda natural cleansed my hair too so I only co-washed once.

As a final rinse I did a ACV rinse on my hair because ACV is an acid and that closed the follicles shut. So this seals in the moisture.

My hair felt softer. NOT TEXTURIZED AT ALL but I only did this treatment for the moisture. The good thing is I had less bulk in the middle of my hair. Overall this was good. My hair felt soft and moisturized.
*Cation* Even though this was so good, this should only be used as a monthly treatment. More than that your hair may become over moisturized.

Join My 30 program

Yes, I would love people to follow along with me for a month and to know what you did different and to see others results. Pass this on to other hair crazed hair fanatics.
Alot of people are thinking this program is way to expensive but its not. The products I'm using are either cheap or already in my home. All you need to buy is the GNC Women's Hair Skin and Nails 30-day program and that is only 23 dollars (with a member ship its $20). I would recommend the mega tek but you can use your own growth oil. If you don't know any or just don't want to buy Mega Tek. You can go to your local pharmacy and buy Dou Grow Growth Oil. Good Luck.
Also, I'm extending the program (only for myself) for 2 months and starting next week.

One month!

Its been officially been 1 month of being natural, I got my big chop last month. You know what! IM LOVING EVERY MINUTE

I am not Patient

No I am not, I cannot wait to start the program. So as soon as I get everything on my check list I am starting that sun day. So hopefully by the end of next week I start the program. Also I decided not to cut my hair because my last cut (which was my BC) was one month ago. If you keep cutting your hair, it'll never see the length.

I tried a flour deep conditoner

IT was HORRIBLE, i mixed flour, honey, castor oil, olive oil deep conditioner and aussi moist. I mixed them all together and put it into my hair for 20 minutes. The flour got stuck in my hair. Small chunks and big chunks of flour in my hair. I co-washed 3 times nothin changed. Then I had to shampoo, the first shampoo nothin happened. After the second shampoo I gave up. It was horrible NEVER AGAIN.

Taking a Break

Since I'm doing my 30 day program, for the next 2 weeks I'm going to take a break. I am just stopping for a while because I want to start fresh.

A 30-day program!

I am doing a 30 day, hair, skin nails program, its starts augsuts 1st and ends on august 31st. The goal of this program is to gain outstanding hair, skin and nails health. Now let me explain this program ( I haven't thought of everything yet):

-Vitamins: GNC'S Women's Hair, Skin and Nails 30 day programs
This is what inspired me to begin this journey. The GNC website explains everything about this program on the website here's the link. http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3206645&cp=2167069.3418461.2510318

HAIR
-Shampoo: I HATE shampoo but on the first day (and only day) I will shampoo my hair with Biolage Shampoo.

Co Wash: I will co wash my hair only on monday and wednesday, with VO5 clarfiyng tea with a teaspoon of baking soda.

Condition: Imfusium (Moistur )ologie Conditioner I need something thats very moisturizing (because I'm using mega tek)

Leave-In: I will use Imfusium (Moistur )ologie Leave in Treatment to revive 2nd day hair.

Styling: I will only use Cantu Shea Butter or Curl Activator

Oils: I only have 1/2 cup of my Africa's Best Herbal Oil and I will use that until that finishes. After that I'll use castor oil and coconut oil.

Hair Growth: I will being using mega tek but instead of using it every other day I will only use it twice. Those two days will be co wash days.

Homemade Treatments: Just to spice things up I will do a new homemade treatment. Those treatments will be Brahmi Powder,Natural Relaxer, Flour deep conditioner and Baking Soda Treatment, in that order.

SKIN
Clinic: I have been using the clinic skin line for a while and I have not problem with them. I use the gel wash, moisturizer and concealer.

Oils: I will lightly moisturize my face with carrot oil at night

Homemade Treatment: I will also try a treatment once a week,Face brigthener, milk and oatmeal mask,Skin Clearing Mask, tightening skin mask and Bridal Glow Mask

Nails
My nails are fine

Doing all those things are great for the outside besides the vitamin but I will work out for atleast 15minutes and drink 1.5 liters a day.

I know average hair grows at 1/2 inches a month but since I'm doing all those things I'm hoping for alot of growth. So my realistic hair growth goal is 1 inch (but my dream hair growth goal is 2 inches)

I will follow everything on this program, the only thing I might change is the hair styling products. I own almost everything on this list (not including the ingeredents for the homemade treatments) except Gnc's women's hair skin and nails, castor oil and curl activator August 31st I will write a review.

Life of a Product Junkie

Being a product junkie is tough when you're on a budget. Luckily, my mother and aunt are product junkies like me. So for this month and the next I'm going to find and make products instead of buying them. Also, being a product junkie is fun but its a waste of money too. I am hoping the next two months it'll help me cut down on my buying habits.

14th Review: Hollywood Beauty Tea Tree Oil

I haven't made a review in a while, I thought I'd make on this product. I have been finding hair products lying around the house. I never bought them, my aunt probably bought them. (My aunt is a product junkie like me.) Most of these products are half used and I need to save my money. So I've been using these. My new discovery is Hollywood Beauty Tea Tree Oil. I don't know how much it cost but I saw this in CVS, it might be stocked in other pharmacies too. The ingredients are a mix of oils, my favorite oils in the product is aloe vera and tea tree oil. I gave my scalp a nice oil and massage. After my hair felt tingly and nice. (I can't think of another word.) I really like this product while I'm being cheap. So this is a Buy Again.

Scarves not just for your neck

This isn't a secret and I'm sure most of you guys have worn a scarf around your head. I just want to promote the head wrap even more. Its just a good protective style (as long as you don't tie it to tight). You don't even need to really touch your hair when your do a head warp. Today, I did a co-washed and I didn't realize how late I was running. I didn't have time to condition and style. So I didn't know what to do with my hair. I grabbed a black scarf I bought from Walmart and I did a low bun head warp. Before I wrapped my hair I put my cantu leave in conditioner and my africa's best oils in my hair then wrapped it. Omgosh I feel that my hair got a nice condition. AND IT LOOKED CUTE.

My hair Reg

Since the big chop I had so much freedom with my hair. I can finally wash my hair as much as I want and thats a problem. I love getting my hair wet now. So I trying to make myself wait 3 days to wash my hair. Also I'm only going to wash my hair with shampoo once a month.
Evert 3 days: Co-wash

I bought VO5 Tea Therapy Clarifyinh conditioner: Vanilla mint teat
It smells soo good. I bought this at CVS but can be found all over. I only paid $1.17 plus tax, it is so cheap. So I'm going to use this as a co-wash because the texture is very light. I don't think you can get a real condition out of this product, so i would only recomend this as a co-wash product. I also add a table of baking soda because its a natural clarifyer and exfoliant.

Every other day: Mega Tek

Click the label that say mega tek on the right for further info.

Every other day: Oil ends with Afirca's Best Herbal Oil

I found this stuff in my bathroom and it was full. Also, I knew its been there for a while cause it was dusty. So I thought I could get some use out of this. Its not bad It doesn't smeel and I read the ingerdient and its full of diffrent oils. So I use to to moisturize my ends after a wash.

Every Month: Shampoo

I haven't found a good shampoo that I like yet. So, I'll keep looking but I know I'll only shampoo once. No rinse and repeat for me.

Happy Holidays

I hope everyones 4th of a July weekend was fun and everyone enjoyed themselves!

Let me repeat 1/2 inch in a week. I might just be crazy and belive this product will work, so I might be seeing things.

13th Review: Miss Jessie's Stretch Silkening Creme

So I was in ricky's again and was looking at the miss jessie products and picked up little bottles of miss Jessie's stretch silkening creme and miss Jessie's rapid recovery. I will do a separate review on the Rapid Recovery. Now I bought this for the stretching part, which it didn't do. Maybe when I have some length maybe it will work better. Between the miss jessie's curly puddy and miss jessie stretch silkening creme, I liked the curly puddy much more. The Strecth Silkening creme wasn't as thick, creamy and sticky as the Miss Jessie's curly puddy but that what I like about the curly puddy. Also it didn't have a strong scent. But I will have to put this in the Maybe Later.

12th Review: Coconut Cream Relaxer Update

This picture was before:

This picture was after:

This picture is before:

Yes, I finally did the coconut cream relaxer and I'm making this my biggest longest review so far. If you are new to my blog I did brief review about the coconut cream relaxer. So go to the left side, and click Coconut Cream Relaxer under labels. I gave the whole synapsis about the relaxer. I the ONLY thing i will repeat is that it doesn't actually relax your hair like a chemical relaxer. It just helps with dryness and shrinkage. The only thing i changed from my recipe would be the lemon juice. I swapped the lemon juice for baking soda. Again baking soda is my new love but i still like green tea. The reason I decided to use baking soda is because of the BAKING SODA CONDITIONER TREATMENT, so i thought i could kill 2 birds with 1 stone and if it comes out nice I will continue to add it. I kept this on for 1 and 1/2 hours. A lot of people keep this on for longer but since I added baking Soda it made it more concerted , so I was a little scared to leave it on for over an 1 and 1/2 hours. While I had this mixture on my head, I had all these feelings. It might sounds cheesy but I was so nervous, and couldn't wait to see results. For the first 30 minutes I wrapped a warm towel around my head then I got hungry. For the last 20 minutes I wrapped a warm towel around my head. After I did a deep condition today I add so much moisture, only because I'm doing the mega tek.

*I don't remember if I stated this or not I only use and recommend Tropical Traditions Gold Label coconut oil and coconut cream concentrate. Here's a link http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/. So if your going to try this and you go out and buy goya or some other brand. Don't complain to me about the results.

My review: Making this was very easy. It wasn't difficult. The only thing I dislike about this product is how much the coconut oil and coconut concentrate, it was so pricey but worth it.
I do this treatment every 2 months, almost like a relaxer. BUT BY NO MEANS IS THIS TREATMENT A RELAXER. So I put this must try product in Make Again. I suggest you
try this treatment if you have shrinkage, bulk or course hair. After this treatment my hair was soft and had less bulk. I don't think it changed my curl pattern at all but that you decision to
make.

Aphogee Two Step Protein Treament

Note: I have never done this on my hair. I have only tired this on my mothers hair and yes she's relaxed.
Now, If you are relaxed Aphogee is a good brand for relaxed hair. The protein treatment is INTENSE. You can not do this every week or bi- weekly. I recommend doing this the week before your relaxer. If you don't have a relaxer and still want to try this then every 2 months THE LEAST.
Seriously, listen to my warning this is a miracle product if you use this right. Also, this product is supposed to be used by professionals. I tried this on my mother's hair. She has a lot of breakage and was in need of a treatment. So far her hair is softer but I only used this once. I give this a buy again.
I also recommend checking out people videos on Youtube about this product.

Big chop!

I recently did my big chop. Before I stopped relaxing i cut my hair, I had the rhianna pixie cut. It was cute but time for a change.I started to transition in december. I Bc'd in june, so I transitioned 6 months before officially cutting off all the relaxed ends. I have almost 3 inches of healthy naturally curly hair.
AND I HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK!
At first I was I was kind of sad but then I styled it a little better. Then my friends gave me compliments. I feel much better about my hair.
You might be wondering what's the point of this post. Basically I'm saying if your going to transition, just do the big chop, heads first. You won't regret it. Also, give it a while for it to sink it. I'm sure if your used to relaxed hair, its going to be a shock.

Update on Green Tea Spritz

I'm doing and update on one of my earlier post, so if your new look at labels and find green tea or homemade. I just wanted to update people. I found vitamin E oil, I ran to my fridge (that where I store the spritz) and added it. I love it, the only problems is since i didn't add this oil when I first made it. The oils separate very easily. So now I have to shake it a lot. BUT I LOVE E-OIL.

Baking Soda

I never realized how much baking soda can do. Put a box of baking soda in the refrigerator and it gets rid of odors. Sprinkle a little on your tooth paste and your teeth are a little whiter. But did you realize how helpful it is with your hair. Baking Soda is a natural gentle cleanser for your hair. I think Baking Soda is my new love but I still love my green tea. So I will add a few baking soda recipes for your hair. Right now I'll give you an alternative to chemical loaded shampoos. Buy a light conditioner, they can be found at any store. I recommend VO5 because it so cheap.
Alternative to Shampoo

Ingredients (may vary depending on length)
-Light conditioner (Suave, Vo5, etc)
-1 tablespoon of baking soda

Direction
-In a bowl, mix all the a bowl.
-Use the mixture if it was a shampoo

Tip: You can make a new batch every time you wash your hair. I'll give you a tip though Put the mixture in a squeeze bottle (A clean soap bottle, jar, etc). Now you have a new chemical free "shampoo"

*Warning* If you are one of my followers you will know my strong dislike for sudsy shampoos. Just because I'm recommending the Vo5 and Suave conditioners does not mean to buy there shampoos. Shampoos are bad Especially from those two brands, they are cheap for a reason because they are loaded with chemicals. How ever the conditioners don't have harmful chemicals but aren't deep conditioning. So instead use this recipe as a alternative to shampoos.

Shedding vs. Breakage

A lot of people don't know the difference, and last year I didn't. I just knew shedding is natural and breakage is bad. That is true. But how can you tell the difference between the two, i will explain. Shedding is when the hair falls out because it reached the end of their cycle. Those hairs are pretty long, depending on your hair length. Also, if you look at the top of hair they have a bulb of them. You shed around 50- 100 hairs a day, so don't worry.
Breakage, is not natural they are all lengths but they are mostly short. When you have breakage you need to ask yourself what your doing wrong.
Do you over use you heat styling product?
Are your ponytails to tight?
Do you treat my hair like lace?
Do you abuse your hair?
Do you deep condition your hair often?
Do you use too much protein in your hair?
If you said yes to any of those questions you need to change your hair regimen.

What the Heck is Pre-Poo

Some people are readying my post and saying "What the heck is a pre poo?" And I'm sorry I didn't explain this. Some people do know what a Pre-Poo is but let me explain for others. Lets break down the word "pre", everyone knows this means before. The word "Poo" is shorten for the word "Shampoo". Now lets put its all to together before shampoo ... BEFORE YOU SHAMPOO. Get it now, these treatments are suppose to be done before you wash your hair. So they should be applied to dry hair.

Banana Fruit Hair Mask

This picture look yummy but this not for drinking! The is to get softer and repair hair. Also a Pre-Poo treatment
Ingredients
-Banana
-Egg
-Milk
-Olive Oil
-Honey
That's all you need all of these things can be found in your house and local grocery store.

Directions
-Mash the banana
-Combined all the all the ingredients
(Blend the ingredients well)
-Then wash out a gentle shampoo

I tired this and it was so lumpy. I did not mix well. I will try this again later. Homemade mask and treatment are fun but i don't like to use them to often. I Make a mask maybe once every 2 months. I could not get the chunks out. Overall this made my hair a little bit softer. I think this treatment is good for fine hair. I put this in make again

11th Review: Mane 'n' Tail Herbal Gro Spray Theraphy

If you are one of my followers, you know how much I dislike Mane 'n' Tail. It is a sham and you know that this review will not be pretty. So I'm not going to waste your time and i will place this in Never Again. Now let me tell you why this is a never again. I bought this a long time ago and I can't remember how much I paid for this, but it wasn't pricey. That doesn't matter though. This can be found anywhere. I bought this when i still relaxed and i loved my flat iron. So I thought I should buy a heat protecting spray. So I bought this. No matter how far you hold the bottle your hair get soaked. So when you flatiron you hair you hear your hair sizzle. That scares me and then my hair is left hard. This was horrible.

Low Protein Treatment

This is the second part to the post of, Growing Hair on the Outside. I call this treatment "Everything Protein". The goo dthing its not to high in protein. This is also a pre- poo treatment.

Ingerdeints
-Half an Avodcado
-Olive Oil
-Egg
-3 Table spoons of Mayo

Direction
- Mash the avocado ( You can put it in the blender)
-Add Olive Oil, Egg, Mayo
This will be a pasty mix
-Apply to hair before you wash
-Place a plastic cap on your hair and leave on for over 30 minutes
-Then wash, you may nee d to wash more than once to get everything out.

This is a good protein treatment. Most of these things are in your house and if not you can find it in your local grocery store. The only thing is I don't use it often. I proebly use this treat every 6 weeks. This is defiantly a Make Again.

Hair Growth On the Outside

Growing long hair healthy hair can finally be obtained. Hopefully you read my post about growing hair within. That where it starts but now you need to get beautiful hair on the outside.
1st. You need to get a hair cut. Yes, this seems so difficult but to have healthy hair you need to cut hair that is considered damage. Once all the damaged hair is gone. You have healthy hair. You should get trim regularly but trimming you hair does NOT make your hair grow.

2nd. Go buy a good moisturizing deep conditioner. Thats why I will give you reviews. So you can find the product for you. It depends on how your hair is if you have oily hair, I would recommend deep conditioning your hair once a month. If you hair noraml hair I would recommend every two weeks. For dry hair once a week.

3rd. You also need to buy a protein treatment. There are two types of protein treatments, high protein and low protein. A low treatment can be made, i will post a low protein treatment. Low protein can be done once a month or twice a month. High protein doesn't play with that stuff. DO YOUR RESEARCH. A high protein I would recommend is Aphogee 2 step treat but only use it once every 2 months. This can be bought at sally's.

4th. If you flatorn your hair more that once you should buy a heat protecting spray, i would suggest the Suave Heat protecting spray, this can be found in most cvs, walgreens and walmarts.

5th. Buy a leave in condtioner, Alot of people i know don't like to deep conditon there hair. They feel it weight down there hair. If your one of those people buy a leave in. I recommend Biolage Hydra Seal Leave-in cream. I'm sorry i have do clue where you can buy it but it can be bought over the internet.

10th Review: Mane 'n' Tale Herbal Gro Shampoo & Conditioner

So, I had to try Mane 'n' Tail, it was first a horse shampoo and now they make shampoo for humans.
A lot of people claim that Mane 'n' Tail grows long hair and fast. So I wanted to try this for my self. I bought The shampoo, conditioner, and therapy Spary. I will review the therapy spray in a diffrent reveiws. First the Shampoo contains the harmful chemicals that strips your hair of its natural oils. So that was a turn off. The condition isn't a deep conditioner so i dislike it but I still wanted to give this a chance. I used the shampoo and conditioner for a month. My hair grew but your hair grows natural anyway. I didn't see a large about of growth. Also, i feel that it just coated my hair and made it feel yucky. So I give both the Shampoo and Conditioner a Never Again. I will not waste my time again.

Grow Long Healthy Hair Quick

I don't know if there are anyways to grow hair fast but I think most people don't grow there hair to it full potential. The average hair grows 1/2 inch per month but some people hair grows faster or slower. People affect there hair growth with little things. Hair growth starts within. In this segment I will give tips on growing long hair to its full potential.

Long Healthy Hair
1. Diet: Your diets affects the growth of your hair. Your hair is made up of proteins and you should eat lots of proteins. That includes eggs, yogurt, tofu, etc. Leafy dark green vegetable are good for your hair too. FRUITS and NUTS also helps your hair and makes a good snack.

2. Nutrition: Besides eating healthy, its very hard to eat a well balanced diet with everything thats good for you. That's when a multivitamin comes in handy. Some people think biotin promotes faster hair growth and will only take the one vitamin. You need all types of vitamins for healthy hair. A multivitamin that contains biotin is perfect. I take flintstones gummies with vitamin D and calcium. They are yummy and contain biotin. I go the idea from a youtuber

3. Exercise: You need to exercise for at least 10 minutes to speed up your heart rate to get your blood circulating. That helps stimulates faster hair growth. It doesn't really matter what you do as long as your moving constantly for at least 10 minutes. I have the Wii Fit and its helpful. I play my Wii and it keeps track of how long I've been playing. I normally play for 20 minutes.

4. Massages: If you have ever gotten a scalp massage you will know how relaxing it is. Also, it doesn't take long if you do it yourself. If your watching Tv start massaging your saclp. Only use the pads of your fingers. NEVER use your nails. I don't know exactly what it does, but everyone recommends it. I think it helps stimulates growth. I get my little brother to massage my hair, and I pay him 25 cents a day. Its so cheap.

5. Stress: Another factors that effects the growth of your hair is stress. Everyone goes through stress. One reason why why I choose summer to cut my hair and grow out, this is the time when I have no stress.

6. Green Tea: I have a new love and its green tea. Its not proven that green tea promotes healthy hair growth but green tea is so healthy. I drink 3 cups a day.

7. Water: Drink up you water, it flushes out the toxins in your body plus your body is made up of mostly water. The recommended amount of water you should drink is 6 cups. I have no clue if i drink 6 cups a day but I try to drink as much as I can. Also cut back on soda

8. Bad Choices: Caffeine, alcohol and smoking is bad for your health and your hair. So try to cut back.

Upcoming Coconut Cream Relaxer!

Well, randomly I found a "relaxer" that all natural. It doesn't straighten your hair like a normal relaxer. It reduces shrinkage and make your hair more manageable. This process doesn't work on the firs try. You have to continue using it and the "relaxer" will gradually reduce shrinkage.

Ingredients
- Tropical Traditions Coconut Creme Concentrate
- Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil
-Full Fat Plain Yogurt
- 1 Tablespoon of Lime Juice

The original recipe didn't have full fat yogurt instead they used fat free. Also they didn't use Lime juice.

The reason why these ingredients "relaxes" the hair is because of the acids found in the coconut oil, coconut concentrate and the full fat yogurt. Then I thought the citric acid found in the lime juice will also help.

I only recommend the coconut oil and coconut cream from tropical tradition. They promise that there coconut products are all natural and organic.

Direction
1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
(You may need to melt the coconut cream and oil)
2. Once everything is mix apply the cream mixture to your whole head
(Make sure your whole head is saturated )
3. Work the mixture in your head
4. Leave on for at least an hour
(I plan to keep this on for more than 1 hour, I'll try to keep it on for 4 hours)

I ordered the coconut cream and oil and it should be here buy Tuesday I will have an Update by the end of this week.

Upcoming Product Reviews

Yes, I am eager I already know what I'm going to buy. Sometimes I buy products at the moment but I like to research. Everyone should research some products before buying them.

So these are the products I will be purchasing. I will not buy all of these at once. Hopefully, by next month I will review two of these products.

9th Review: Bioinfusion Organics Strengthen & Repair Shampoo

Shampoos are one of the most damaging things to your hair. A lot of shampoos contain

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Ammonium lauryl sulfate, which are chemical that strip hair of its natural oils. The only reason I bought this shampoo, i needed one. I was fooled buy the words "straighten" , "repair" , "eucalyptus" , "lavender" and "organics". That sounded so promising. I bought this at Walgreens and paid $8. That wasn't to bad. I feel if you pay less that $10 its not that much of a rip off. It has a strong smell of herbs and lavender but the smell doesn't stay in your hair. Overall, I would Never Again because it contains those chemicals. If you don't mind the chemicals or have oily hair you could you this shampoo but I wouldn't use it all the time.

8th Review: The Infamous Mega Tek

A lot of people have heard a lot about this product. Well first off, this is a horse product but is safe for humans. Mega Tek is a very high protein treatment. People use it as a leave in or a wash out. Some use it on the whole head and others just use it on their scalp. This product will supposedly make your hair grow faster and thicker. I will tell you the way i intend to use my bottle of mega tek. A lot of people complain about itchy scalp and shedding when they used this product. If you seem interested in this product, you should do further research. To combat the itching and shedding people add oils. Also its beneficial because he oils help the hair grow too.
In my bottle I have 3/4 Mega Tek, 1/4 Jojoba Oil, Peppermint Essential oil, Rosemary Essential Oil and Lavender Essential Oil
I will apply mega tek 3 times a week.
On Sunday my wash day I will apply a large amount on my scalp and some on the rest of my hair. Wear a plastic cap for as long as I can and then rinse out my hair.

Then again on Tuesday I will apply Mega Tek only on my scalp.

And again on Friday only on my scalp.

I will keep updating my blog on the grow.

I will not rate this product until I give an update. I will also add before and after pictures in 3 months.

7th Review: Olive Oil Replenishing Deep Conditioner

I bought this product when i started using mega tek. For people who don't know what mega tek is, its a high is protein treatment that supposedly grows hair faster. Since this is high in protein I need a moisturizing conditioner. I researched conditioners and a fellow mega tek user recommended this conditioner. It comes in like packages but i like to use a lot. I bought this at my local beauty supply store for $6. This was a savings. For my hair it very moisturizing and gives a lot of slip. You can wear a plastic cap and you go along with your day. I try to keep it on as long as possible. A problem with this conditioner would be when I try to rinse the conditioner out, it leaves a residue. Its a oily feeling but I rinse my hair twice and my hair normally is good. For the price and its very moisturizing I would Buy Again.

6th Review:Organix Conditioner Coconut Milk

I heard a lot of positive things about Organix Conditioner Coconut Milk in different reviews. So I had to buy a bottle and since it was so cheap. I paid around $7, I can't remember what I paid but i wasn't over $10. So far its very good, its a savings. Its very thick for a non-deep conditioner. Another reason I bought this conditioner is because you should never comb your hair without conditioner in it. Since I was getting my hair cut, I wanted to follow those rules. This conditioner had a lot of slip. While I was getting my hair cut the lady didn't have to pull. Some people like to leave conditioner in there hair because sometimes it defines curls very well. So if you like to do that, this conditioner dries clear a little crunchy but its all good. The only problem I have with this conditioner its not a deep condition. So I most likely won't use this conditioner again till i get another hair cut, which will be in 3 months. Besides that I loved this product for the price and what it did, I would Maybe Later.

5th Review: Bottle of Oils

I remember when i was relaxed, i went through a phase of wearing buns. A bun is a cute style when you have relaxed hair and don't want to style it. Its low maintance. Also a bun is a good early transitioning hair style. I still think buns are really cute, but my hair is too short to ever get into a bun right now. But I remember when I use to wear buns I would keep a spray bottle to keep my hair smooth.

Ingredients (Depends on how big your spray bottle is):
- Jojoba Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Peppermint Essential Oil
- Lemon Essential Oil
- Lemongrass Oil Essential Oil
- Water (optional)
*Some people don't want there hair to be super oily so the was dilutes it*

Directions (without water)D*irections (with water):
- 1. Fill bottle with 1/2 Jojoba oil *1. Fill bottle 1/3 jojoba oil
- 2. Fill bottle 1/2 Coconut oil * 2. Fill bottle with 1/3 coconut oil
- 3. 5 drops of each oil *3. Fill the bottle with 1/3 water
* 4. 5 drops of each essential oil

*May need to shake before every use because the oils may settle*

Before you make a bun, spray hair. Mostly the front to smooth down hair. Use a soft brush because when hair is wet its more fragile and don't want any breakage. After hair is Oiled and brushed, start to make a bun. When I get longer hair This product will defiantly be a Make Again.

4th Review: Miss Jessie's Curly Puddy

Okay, I've heard so much about this product from when I started transitioning. So the first product I used on my freshly Big Chopped hair was Miss Jessie's Curly Puddy. I didn't want to order this product online. So I traveled to Ricky's and bought it there. At Ricky's Miss Jessie's Curly Puddy is about a $1 more the the website. I think that dollar is less that the shipping and handle. Also you get it much faster because your buying it right then and there. So if I buy any other Miss Jessie's products I will buy it at Ricky's. So for Miss Jessie's Curly Puddy I paid $9 before tax for 2 FL OZ. I didn't want to buy the bigger jars yet. I think the medium bottle is $22 and the biggest is $36. Which is very expensive. I wanted to see if I liked it first.

So, I tried there method called shingling on my hair and it was okay. It was the only thing i knew then so I liked it. The Curly Puddy is thick and a little sticky but its okay because it helps hold the curl. Miss Jessie's has an Unscented version of the curly puddy but i think the smell is amazing. It smells like sweet grapes. Even my cousin likes the smell she comes in my room everyday just to get a whiff. I love the way it styled my hair and I would Buy Again. Even though its pretty pricey.

3rd Review: Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter

I bought this product before I decided to become natural. I wanted to grow my hair and i wanted a moisturizing cream. So I was look at reviews on Youtube and came across Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, "Creamy dress for relaxed or natural hair". Then I did my research and it seemed like the perfect product.
I am holding the jar in my hand. I payed a little over $10 for 4 FL oz. I won't say it was a savings but it wasn't a rip off. A good thing about this product is that its paraben-free, contains no mineral oil, petroleum or artificial color. Also contains a lot of essential oil. Its very thick and creamy. It has an extreme smell of herbs, that might be the a problem. A lot of people dislike this product because of the strong smell, which I agree. Since, this is so thick you DON'T need a lot. The biggest mistake people make with this, they use way too much and that leaves there hair weighted down and greasy looking. Start off with a little and add as you go along because a little goes a long way. To me it leaves a thick residue on my hair. Overall I would Maybe Later. I don't love this product but its not horrible.

2nd Review: Homemade Green Tea Spritz

This is my second review but my first review on one of my homemade products. When I do a review a homemade product I will place it in the category of either, Make Again or Never Again. Make Again mean i will defiantly make this product again. Never Again means I will never waste my time making this again. I named it myself, Green Tea Spritz. I needed a reviving and moisturizing spray to wake up my curls. Also, I am in love with regular green tea. I have been drinking it non stop for the past week. So I thought how would I be able to incorporate my love of green tea and this was how.

Ingredients (May vary depending on length):
- 1/2- 1 Cup of Water
- 1 Green Tea Bag
- 2 Tablespoon of Tea Tree Oil
- 4 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
- 2 Drops on Lavender Essential Oil
- 4 Drops of Rosemary Essential Oil

Directions:
1. Boil water to a small pot
2. Add the green tea bag and stir
3. Once you make green tea, let it shimmer
4. While shimmering add oils
5. Let the mix cool and then add to a spray bottle
*You may need to shake the bottle before every use because the oils will settle at the top.*

Since my hair is short, it gets matted very easily. So i need something to make curls fuller. I would water but i wanted something to moisturize my hair. Green tea is high in antioxidants and calms the scalp, peppermint stimulates the scalp, rosemary calms the scalp and lavender for fragrance. The spray is very light and smells like peppermint. The smell is very mellow. I will defiantly Make Again.

1st Review: Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream

This will be my first review and i wanted my first review to be on product I loved. In my all reviews at the end I will place the product in a category of either, Buy Again, Never Again or Maybe Later. Buy Again means I would defiantly purchase this product again. Never Again means I will never buy this product again no matter what. Maybe Late means the product was okay and i might buy again.

I am holding the jar right now and it is huge. I bought this at my local beauty supply store but I know it can be found in Walmart and Walgreens. IT WAS ONLY $5 plus tax. This is 16 fl oz this is defiantly a great savings. You get a large amount for such a cheap price. The smell is lovely, its very light and has fruity smell. The texture is also light but still creamy. Its not thick at all. I used this leave-in when i did tiny bantu knots. My curls were defined and so cute. They weren't weighted down. This product is defiantly a Buy Again. This product is good for natural, relaxed or transitioning hair.

Going Natural

I am not trying to make this blog about me but I just want to say a little about myself. I just did my big chop (BC'd) June 20, 2009. So officially I am natural. Right now I have about 1 inch of hair, when I stretched it. I never had a problem with short hair and I'm very comfortable with it. I can't remember the exact date of my last relaxer but it was before christmas. I transition by flat ironing my hair and then I tried Kinky Twist. I wore those Kinky Twist for almost 3 months, which was way to long. Normally they last 1- 2 months but I made those Kinky Twist last.

Also, I'm not trying to change anyone or make anyone become natural. A lot of people feel comfortable with have a chemical relaxer and don't have breakage. So just like my mom would says "If it's not broke, don't fix it." My mother still uses a relaxer but her hair is breaking a lot. This breakage has been recent. From all the years I've known her, she has had thick shoulder length hair. So all the relaxed products I will review, they have been used on my mom.

Introduction!

Welcome to my new blog, Product Junkie Review. This has been an idea of mine for a while now and i finally have my blog up and running. This blog is dedicated for women with natural hair, relaxed hair, curls and transitioning. I will give reviews of the products I've tried. Also home remedies I've made. I will give my personal opinion on a variety of products. Trying to help women who want to achieve gorgeous hair, are prone to breakage, or just want to try different styles.

I will try to update my blog at least once or twice a week. If you have any questions or disagree with anything i say, leave a comment.
